• After a trial in district court, won defense verdict with an award of attorney fees for clients sued related to a real estate transaction.
• New School Construction: Putting a Failed Project Back on Track
A Long Island school district embarked upon what was to be an approximately one-year project involving the construction of a new three-story school building connecting two existing school buildings (which were also going to be extensively renovated). Four years passed, the project was still incomplete, a significant number of defects came to light, a number of the original project team members (trade contractors and the original construction manager) had been defaulted or left the project, a new construction manager joined the project, and the original architect had entered into a new agreement with the district to complete the project. Attorney Jason W. Snell’s legal team was charged with investigating the prior failures to recover damages from the responsible parties, including the original construction manager and architect. The lawsuit settled for several million dollars prior to trial, but only after numerous depositions, motion-drafting, and other comprehensive legal proceedings.
• Roof Leak Persisted During Construction of Addition to Administration Building
Significant leaks persisted during the construction of an additional story to a public school district administration building in upstate New York. Attorney Jason W. Snell’s legal team was retained by the school district to investigate the damage and then bring a lawsuit against the roofing contractor and subcontractors. The leaks were corrected at once and the ensuing litigation was resolved favorably to the school district.
