Snell Law is proud to announce a favorable jury verdict obtained last week in the 345th District Court of Travis County, the Hon. Jan Soifer presiding. The jury awarded Snell Law’s client $115,000.00 in a defamation lawsuit arising from false statements published by a business competitor. The jury also awarded $500,000 in punitive damages, but because only 11 of the 12 jurors agreed, that award will not be included in the final judgment.
During the trial, Snell Law successfully moved to exclude the defendant’s expert witnesses and presented compelling evidence that the defendant’s statements were false, defamatory, and damaging to the client’s professional reputation.
Led by the trial team of Jason Snell and Lynn Watson, Snell Law argued that the defendant’s conduct had real and measurable consequences. A panel of Travis County jurors agreed, ultimately finding that truth matters and that there are legal consequences for defamatory conduct.
